Biography

Born in Omaha, Nebraska. Lived in Laramie,Wyoming until I was 16 years old, then moved to Muskogee Oklahoma. I graduated high school in Muskogee and entered the U.S. Army. After I left the military, I started my undergraduate work at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. I met my wife, Cathy, we were married and both of us transferred to the University of Wyoming were I earned a BA in Secondary Education – Social Studies. I moved to South Carolina in 1992 and began working for the Department of Health and Human Services in Columbia. I began teaching in District Two in 1993 at the former Manchester Middle School in Pinewood. I worked as a 7th and 8th grade social studies teacher at Manchester for 3 years. Then I began working at Furman Middle School as a 7th Grade Social Studies teacher. During my 5 years at FMS, I taught 6th grade social studies, and computers. In 2000 I began working at Ebenezer Middle School as a 6th Grade Social Studies teacher, Social Studies Department Head and Website Administrator. During my final year at Ebenezer I was selected as Teacher of the Year. Transferring to District 17 in 2006 marked my arrival here at Alice Drive Middle. Currently I teach 7th Grade World History Challenge, Distinguished and Regular. In the past, I have coached baseball at the former Furman High School, Lakewood High and Crestwood High. I was an assistant coach for the American Legion baseball P-15’s for 19 summers here in Sumter. I have also coached cross-country and swimming during my career.
