Biography

I teach English 1 and ProTeam. I graduated from Liberty University with a MAT in Education and moved to Sumter in 2008. I am married to a wonderful man and we have a beautiful daughter. We also have a furbaby that has worked her way into our hearts. I look forward to working with you and your child in providing them with a challenging; yet, fun and exciting way to expand their ELA knowledge. My classes offer an integrated and active approach to reading, writing, vocabulary and grammar. Students will learn 21st Century skills essential for success in college, career, and life. These include critical and creative thinking, clear reasoning, research skills, collaboration, communication, information media, and technology literacy. My class offers a range of fiction and nonfiction texts that differ in complexity for the advancement of all learners. ProTeam classes will allow students an opportunity for growth and development as they look towards their future college and career expectations. The DreamQuest curriculum, available from CERRA, is designed to help students set realistic goals for the future that include the steps to prepare for successful completion of high school and college. The ProTeam Program can be considered the beginning course in the education and training career cluster model and is comprised of seven modules and 51 descriptors with an emphasis on character development, career readiness skills, and an exploration of teaching and education professions. Each module has required components as well as optional ones and family involvement activities are infused throughout the curriculum. ***please visit the Google calendar, powerschool, and the Google classroom for continual updates*
