I began my teaching career in 1996 at Pocalla Springs Elementary School. I spent nineteen years teaching every subject and grade from first through fourth. Five of those nineteen years working with reading intervention to help fluent readers with comprehension skills. I spent two additional years working in a private school teaching seventh grade English Language Arts. I currently teach sixth grade English Language Arts and sixth grade Honors English Language Arts. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Francis Marion University, a Masters of Education Degree in Education from Cambridge College, and I currently hold a South Carolina Best Practices Teaching License. I was the Teacher of the Year in 2000-2001 and the Distinguished Reading Teacher of the Year in 2001-2002. I enjoy working with students and watching them grow. I am a teacher, wife, mother of three, baker, and a constant learner. One of the biggest aspects of learning and growing is making a connection with students. Before I am able to teach a child, I must be able to reach them. I strive to create a warm and welcoming environment where students are not afraid to make mistakes and try new things. Teaching has been an honor for the last twenty two years.
