Dear Members of Hawk Nation:

Alice Drive Middle School, a nationally certified STEM school, will host a mini-camp orientation on Friday, August 18th, from 9:00 until 12:00 pm. Students and parents who will be attending ADM for the first time are invited to attend. Through a series of rotation stations, students will tour the campus through a scavenger hunt, explore STEM through a problem-based learning activity, and review the use of chrome books to help ensure everyone gets off to a great start. Tables will be set up featuring information regarding various aspects of student life at ADM to include academics, athletics, parent engagement, and other extra-curricular activities. In addition, students will have the opportunity to have their ID picture taken and meet administrators, teachers, and other staff members. Parents can pay the $20 chrome book usage fee at this time. For those parents who cannot attend that morning, a “drop-in” style orientation will be held that afternoon from 1:30 until 3:30pm. Any returning students that would like to pay chrome book fees may do so at this time.
Tuesday, August 22nd, is the first day for student attendance. This day will be designated as our “STEM SOAR Camp.” Students will review school-wide behavior expectations and procedures, and explore STEM through a variety of problem-based learning activities, and have their school picture taken.                                     An open house is scheduled on September 21st   from 5:00 to 7:00 pm for all students and parents.
Drop-Off/Pick-Up Procedures: Parents who bring children to school should enter campus using gate one (1) off of University Drive by making a right turn only. The earliest students may be dropped off in the mornings is 7:10 am. To avoid congestion, parents are asked to make a left-turn only when exiting campus out of gate two. Walkers should enter the designated entrance in the gym foyer. In the interest of student safety, please do not drop students off on University Drive, at the front of the school, or in the bus loading/unloading area.

I look forward to the 2017-18 school year and wish you & your family a safe and enjoyable summer vacation. Remember to make time to read!

In it together,

Jeannie Pressley
Principal
